Hi, I'm Lala!

I'm the artist behind Calligraphy Curaçao, a calligraphy and creative lettering studio on the island of Curacao.

It’s a place where calligraphy is shared as both an art form and an experience through workshops, events, and custom work.

I’ve been practicing calligraphy for years (more than eight, actually), but for a long time it was just something I did on the side. Something I enjoyed quietly. Something that lived in notebooks, on scraps of paper, and in between other projects.

In 2025, I finally decided to stop overthinking it and just… start.

First steps

I hosted my first workshop almost on a whim. I thought it would be a small group of friends. It wasn’t. More people showed interest, and suddenly calligraphy wasn’t just something I practiced, it was something I was sharing.

That’s when Calligraphy Curaçao slowly took shape.

Today, my work shows up in many ways: workshops, weddings, private events, murals, driftwood signs, engraving, and custom pieces.

If it involves lettering and intention, I’m probably into it.

A place to learn, create, and pause for a moment.

What I love most about calligraphy is that it’s an applied art. You don’t need experience. You don’t need talent. You just need a pen, a bit of patience, and a willingness to try. I’ve seen people surprise themselves over and over again and that never gets old.

My workshops are relaxed, approachable, and judgment-free. My custom work is thoughtful and personal. And my studio practice is rooted in doing things by hand, slowly, and with care.
